Note:  The last term for admission into this program is Autumn 2023.

The combined Bachelor's + Master's degree programs allow students to complete 12 graduate credit hours while still undergraduates.  These 12 graduate credit hours will count toward both the undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

DePaul Undergraduate Degree + Italian (MA)

Admission to this combined Master of Arts program is based on a minimum level of language proficiency (ACTFL rating of "Intermediate High") rather than on prior coursework.  Therefore, it is open to students with any undergraduate majors with the accompanying language ability.  The program is designed to prepare students for advanced use of their linguistic skills in any area of professional interest (from business, government, and education to further graduate study).

The program requires 48 quarter hour credits of coursework.  This coursework consists of:

12-quarter hour credits of required courses:

Course Title Quarter Hours
MOL 401PROFESSIONAL FOUNDATIONS4
MOL 402LANGUAGE, SELF AND SOCIETY4
MOL 496MAMOL CAPSTONE4

36-quarter hour credits of elective coursework, specifically relevant to each individual student's professional interests and language, and chosen in consultation with the student's faculty advisor.

The required courses (MOL 401MOL 402, and MOL 496) are each worth 4-quarter hour credits.  Elective courses may vary in credit.  Because each student pursues a highly customized selection of coursework, it may include independent study, practicum, study abroad, or transfer credits that allow students to complete in any term additional credits toward satisfaction of degree requirements.  Depending on individual interests, a student may (with approval of their advisor) also take as electives courses taught in English by other DePaul units, provided that the students satisfy any relevant prerequisites for those courses.
