The certificate consists of three to five 4-credit courses and one 2-credit course, for a total of 14-22 credits.

Students can choose from one of three tracks:

  • Translation
  • Interpreting
  • Translation and Interpreting (T&I)

To declare the certificate, students must contact Elias Shakkour and include the following information in the email:

  • Student ID
  • Primary College
  • Track (Translation, Interpreting or T&I)

Course requirements are listed below.  For each track, courses may be substituted on a case-by-case basis following consultation with the Director of TIC, and, if appropriate, the respective language program director.
 

Translation Track:

Note:

MOL 471 and MOL 472 are both required if the Department of Modern Languages does not offer a language-specific translation course in the student's language.  If the Department of Modern Languages does offer a language-specific translation course in the student's language, the student is required to take a language-specific translation course and either MOL 471 or MOL 472.  If it is not feasible for a student to register for a language-specific translation course because it is not offered during the student's time at DePaul, because it conflicts with the student's schedule, or for any other reason, the student will be required to take both MOL 471 and MOL 472.
