The certificate consists of three to five 4-credit courses and one 2-credit course, for a total of 14-22 credits.   To earn the certificate, students must earn at least a B- in each certificate course, and a GPA of at least 2.5 across all certificate courses. 

Students can choose from one of three tracks:

  • Translation
  • Interpreting
  • Translation and Interpreting (T&I)

To declare the certificate, students must contact Elias Shakkour and include the following information in the email:

  • Student ID
  • Primary College
  • Track (Translation, Interpreting or T&I)

Course requirements are listed below.  For each track, courses may be substituted on a case-by-case basis following consultation with the Director of TIC, and, if appropriate, the respective language program director.

If the student’s language is one for which a language-specific translation is not offered, the student will be required to satisfy this requirement by taking MOL 471 or MOL 472, whichever is not taken to satisfy the non-language-specific translation course requirement.
