
The certificate in Trauma Psychology provides a multifaceted approach to understanding the effects of trauma, with a focus on human interactions. The information from this integrated set of four courses is applicable to a wide range of professions and practitioners.
The trauma courses included in this certificate address a broad range of the causes of trauma and the subsequent effects experienced by community members. These courses are an integral part of a recently launched MS in Community Psychology program designed for students interested in working within communities to affect changes that enhance the opportunities for all members, with a focus on the most vulnerable members. It is not a clinically focused certificate.

The requirements for admission into the Trauma Psychology Graduate Certificate program are:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Successful completion (with a grade of C- or better) of the following undergraduate coursework:
- PSY 105 Introduction to Psychology I or PSY 106 Introduction to Psychology II, or equivalent
- One upper-level Psychology course; PSY 314 or above, or equivalent.
The admission process and review of applicants will be managed by the Office of Graduate Admissions via the online application portal and following a similar procedure used by the existing MS graduate programs offered by the Department of Psychology.
