Students that are seeking federal, state and need-based institutional  financial aid must file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application annually.  By participating in aid programs, it is your responsibility to maintain eligibility, and to continuously comply with the federal eligibility requirements as explained in your FAFSA, your award notification, and as outlined below:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  • Enroll in an eligible degree program or approved post-baccalaureate non-degree graduate preparatory coursework.  Contact the Office of Financial Aid for information about graduate preparatory programs.
  • Have a high school diploma, General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or have completed a high school education in a homeschool setting approved under state law. Students who do not meet these eligibility requirements should contact the Office of Admissions for assistance.
  • Submit required official transcripts from all degree-granting institutions that you attended.
  • For most types of financial aid, you must be enrolled for credit in a degree or approved post-baccalaureate non-degree graduate preparatory program. Audited classes are not eligible for financial aid consideration.
  • demonstrate financial need for need-based federal student aid programs
  • Once you complete your degree requirements or post-baccalaureate non-degree graduate preparatory program—even if you have not received your diploma—you are no longer eligible for aid.
  • If you wish to repeat a course for which you have previously earned credit, your financial aid options are limited.  Contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information.
  • Be enrolled at least half-time for federal student loan deferment.
  •  Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.
  • You must notify the Office of Financial Aid at ofascholarships@depaul.edu if you are receiving any additional financial aid that does not appear on your award notification.
  • Not be in default on a federal loan or owe a repayment on a federal grant.
  • Meet any remaining federal eligibility requirements
