The Women's and Gender Studies (WGS) minor consists of six courses (24 credit hours) complementing practically any major field of study.
The WGS minor fosters an understanding of how gender, race, ethnicity, class, and sexuality shape social structures. It also emphasizes activism and social change in pursuit of social justice from transnational and intersectional feminist perspectives. The minor is comprised of three core social analysis courses aimed at building a strong foundation to provide students with a gendered lens through which to understand the social, cultural, and political issues of the day. Students in the minor develop a framework that promotes resilient responses to all forms of oppression.
In addition to the three core courses listed below, students take three additional electives chosen from the approved course list from the Women's and Gender Studies Department to complete the minor. We recommend that you talk with an LAS or WGS Faculty advisor as you work through your program. WGS Courses that fulfill the Liberal Studies Learning Domain requirements can also double-count towards the WGS minor.
