The combined Bachelor's + Master's degree programs allow students to complete 12 graduate credit hours while still undergraduates. These three graduate level courses will count toward both the undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
DePaul Undergraduate Degree + Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (MS)
Through the master’s in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence program, you’ll gain the necessary techniques to turn complex data into solutions that drive business decisions for a wide range of industries.
The program’s primary focus is preparing students for roles that require them to be expert users of data analytics with the ultimate purpose of informing business decisions. Students will develop key competencies that enable them to perform core tasks applying data analytic tools and techniques to any business function. These include analyzing market strategies, synthesizing and managing timely flow of current business intelligence to support recommendations for action, identifying, analyzing and communicating industry, technology or geographic trends with business strategy implications, and generating reports summarizing business, financial or economic data for review key stakeholders.
DePaul degree-seeking undergraduate students interested in earning a Master of Science in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence may apply to the bachelor's degree/Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (MS) combined program. Students may be able to obtain both degrees in an expedited period, typically in five years.
Admission
Students must formally apply and be admitted to the Department of Management before beginning their graduate coursework. Undergraduate students who meet the following criteria may apply to this program:
- Junior standing or higher (at least 88.0 credits)
- A minimum cumulative DePaul grade point average of 3.20
Students participating in this program will typically take three of the following graduate level courses during their senior year:

Notes. The courses listed above may double-count to 12 credits toward both the undergraduate and MSBAI degree programs. These courses will fulfill core requirements in the MSBAI curriculum and may be used toward undergraduate major requirements as described below. Students should consult with their Academic Advisor regarding how these courses apply to their specific undergraduate degree requirements. The undergraduate degree will be awarded upon completion of all undergraduate degree requirements, and the MSBAI degree will be awarded upon completion of the remaining graduate-level requirements.
For Business Analytics majors:
- MGT 567 may substitute for the BUA 301 requirement in the undergraduate Business Analytics major and fulfill a requirement in the MSBAI degree.
- MGT 585 may substitute for the Advanced Analytics requirement in the undergraduate Business Analytics major (ACC 300, ECO 304, FIN 315, MIS 300, MGT 314, or MKT 305) and fulfill a requirement in the MSBAI degree.
- MGT 586 may substitute for the BUA 303 requirement in the undergraduate Business Analytics major and fulfill a requirement in the MSBAI degree.
- If a student has already completed or is currently taking the undergraduate equivalent course at the time of admission to the MSBAI combined program, the student will be waived from the corresponding graduate course. The student must replace the waived graduate course with an alternative graduate BAI course to meet the minimum graduate credit hours required for the MSBAI degree. Placement of the alternative course within the undergraduate program will depend on the course selected and the student's remaining requirements. Students should discuss their specific circumstances with an Academic Advisor and the MSBAI Program Director.
- Within the MSBAI curriculum, students who use the approved undergraduate substitutions described above will replace MGT 588 and MGT 594 with two graduate Business Analytics & AI electives.
For other Driehaus College of Business majors:
- Placement of MGT 567 within the undergraduate degree requirements depends on the student's major and remaining degree requirements.
- MGT 585 may be acceptable in place of an Advanced Analytics requirement in the student's undergraduate major.
- For Management and Entrepreneurship majors, MGT 585 fulfills the MGT 314 requirement in the undergraduate Management or Entrepreneurship major and fulfills a requirement in the MSBAI degree.
- For majors other than Management and Entrepreneurship, approval to substitute MGT 585 for an undergraduate major-specific Advanced Analytics requirement must be granted by the Director or Chair of the student's primary major.
- If an undergraduate student has already completed or is currently taking MGT 314 at the time of admission to the MSBAI combined program, the student will be waived from MGT 585. The student must replace MGT 585 with an alternative graduate BAI course to meet the minimum graduate credit hours required for the MSBAI degree. Placement of the alternative course within the undergraduate program will depend on the course selected and the student's remaining requirements. Students should discuss their specific circumstances with an Academic Advisor and the MSBAI Program Director.
- Placement of MGT 586 within the undergraduate degree requirements depends on the student's major and remaining degree requirements. For majors where MGT 586 does not have a direct undergraduate equivalent, an alternative MSBAI elective course may be substituted only with approval for use in both the undergraduate and MSBAI degrees. Students should discuss this option with their Academic Advisor and the undergraduate Program Director.
These three courses may double-count up to 12 credits towards both degree programs. The undergraduate degree will be awarded at the completion of all undergraduate work while the MSBA will be awarded upon completion of the remaining graduate level work.
