The MLS in Health Care Compliance (HCC) concentration is guided by chief compliance officers from large health systems, medical device manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies and insurers, in collaboration with College of Law faculty. The program provides a structured understanding of complex health care regulations and the legal and operational components of effective compliance programs within an evolving regulatory environment.
Through MLS HCC coursework, students examine how to assess the compliance needs of a health care organization, design and administer compliance programs, implement reporting mechanisms and respond to regulatory risk. The curriculum also addresses communication with physicians and other providers, health care administrators, legal counsel, risk management personnel, human resources departments and regulatory agencies. The concentration integrates legal analysis with practical compliance skills relevant to health care settings.
