At least one of the six upper-level BIO courses must be a lab course and at least two must be 300-level courses. At least one 'topics' course is encouraged.

Students interested in medical school should enroll in CHE 340/341 as one of the six upper-level BIO electives and CHE 234/235 (Organic Chemistry III) as an open elective.

The following upper-level BIO courses are research-based: BIO 307, BIO 313, BIO 317, BIO 318, BIO 320, BIO 321, BIO 330, BIO 362, BIO 389, BIO 299 and BIO 399. Both BIO 299 and BIO 399 are mentored research courses that require both instructor and departmental approval. At least one research-based course is encouraged.

Transfer students can request that anatomy and physiology courses that were articulated as HLTH 301 and HLTH 302 be substituted for BIO 308 (HLTH 301) and BIO 201 (HLTH 302) as two of the six upper-level BIO electives. Departmental approval is required for these substitutions.

Open Electives

Open elective credit also is required to meet the minimum graduation requirement of 192 hours.
